Fall even more in love with Ibiza celebrating spring on the island

Yey, we’re excited today is the first day of spring! Let’s say bye bye winter (which honestly hasn’t really been a winter) and hello to the beginning of our favourite and unparalleled season of the year: SPRING in IBIZA! 🌺🌸🌼

Are you wondering what to do in Ibiza this spring? As you’ll have read in our first blog post, at bsplash we’re all about sharing what to do in Ibiza, so you don’t find out the day after the events have already taken place. This is why we thought we’d share with you 10 plans you won’t want to miss out on this spring. Here we’ve selected a combination of 10 events, which include, wellness and sports, music and art, parties, dancing, and fun.

1-Sant Josep’s Flower Power (March, 23rd)

Sant Josep’s  Flower Power Party is one of the most fun and colourful parties on the island. Although the Flower Power party became famous at Pacha, the concept has begun to spread around the island during the quieter months of the year.

The DJs of this Flower Power edition will be DJs Pharma and Javi Box. Live music will be provided by the following bands: Willy & The Poor Boys (a Creedence Clearwater Revival tribute group), Discover, My Generation, Lucy Sky & The Diamonds, Fuel Pressure Regulator, The Frigolos, Jet Lag, and Groovy Brothers. Most importantly: don’t forget to wear your best 60’s, 70’s or 80’s attire! (More info)

2-Primavera at Atzaró (March, 31)

Another event which residents and locals look forward to year after year is Atzaró’s Spring Festival. Primavera at Atzaró marks the beginning of the season in Ibiza for locals and Ibiza residents. It takes place on the 31st of March from midday to midnight at the Agroturismo Atzaró.

The entrance fee will be a total of 25€, which includes a 5€ donation to one of the projects Atzaró Fundraising is supporting. Not only will there be 15 guest artists providing us with live music throughout the day, but we’ll also be able to enjoy all kinds of yumminess at the food and drink stall, entertainment, gastronomic and holistic workshops, and live painting by Behzad.

3-Ibiza Marathon (April, 6th)

Consider yourself a running freak (or something like that)? This just may be the perfect plan for you! The Ibiza Marathon is an innovative concept which takes place in the evening. A good time to run the distance between Ibiza and Santa Eularia des Riu (around 42,1195 metres).

If that sounds a little too much, there is also the Ibiza 12k. Put on your best running shoes and get ready to enjoy a perfect weekend in which you’ll be able to experience a different kind of sunset running to the beat of spring in Ibiza.

And that’s not all, this year you can also participate in the Ibiza 42K Relay, which consists of a “relay marathon”. (More info)

4-Ibiza tour by Mountain Bike (April, 19, 20, 21)

If you love cycling around Ibiza’s nature, then you’ll love this event. The 19th edition of “vuelta a Ibiza MTB”  takes place in 3 different phases during 3 days stretching across 230 kilometres including different slopes, paths, and trails. Join the MTB for a sport-intensive weekend, fresh air, and stunning nature! There are various activities organised during the MTB also for those that aren’t participating but want to be part of it. 5-Ibiza Swing Fun Fest (April, 26-27-28th)

Ibiza Swing Fun Fest 2019After the success of last year’s Swing festival, Ibiza couldn’t miss bringing to the island a second edition: the II International Swing music and Lindy Hop Festival. Get ready for a fun weekend opened to everyone! It’s expected to be a complete success. Activities have been organised throughout the 3 days. 15 local, national, and international music bands will be filling the streets of San Antonio with music. 6-Ibiza Spirit Festival (April, 28th)

Namaste! Ibiza Spirit Festival at Atzaró is an event created to celebrate life and bring together those people connected to a more spiritual world. You’ll be able to find different activities, such as ecstatic dancing, tantra, yoga, inspiration and meditation workshops, alternative therapies, live music, DJs, singing circles, delicious food and drink stands, artisan markets, activities for kids, and… much more! 7-Ibiza’s Medieval fair in Dalt Vila (May, 9-12th)

The Medieval fair in the old town of Ibiza takes place on the second Sunday of May every year, which coincides with the declaration of Ibiza’s old town as World Heritage Site in 1999 by the UNESCO. If you’re wondering what to do in Ibiza in May, this event is considered one of the biggest fairs on the island and one of the most loved by locals and residents.

The island goes back in time filling the streets of Dalt Vila with Medieval colours. Throughout the fair, you’ll find witches, dragons, potters, buffoons, giants on stilts, and many more activities. It’s a showcase of not only Ibiza’s culture and traditions but also of the island’s art and crafts. You’ll be able to see how the artisans make the typical baskets (sanallons), shoes and “sandals” (espardenyes/alpargatas), and hats, among many others.

And last but not least: food! You will be able to savour Ibiza’s diverse gastronomy: pastries with peppers, orelletes, flaons, and much more!

8-Sueños de Libertad Festival (May, 17-19th)

Quite a music-lover? The fifth edition of the festival Sueños de Libertad is one of those events you just don’t want to miss out on. The festival takes place this May inundating of music and art the streets of Ibiza’s old town and port. Each year there is a rich diversity of bands and artists. Sueños de Libertad is being a key event in the realm of culture and art on the island.

Artists which aren’t as well known locally as well as internationally renowned artists have been invited over the years, such as Fantastic Negrito, El Kanka, Shawn James, Iseo & Dodosound, Angel Stanich, Los Bengala, Sweet Barrio, and many more. Some of the artists you’ll be able to enjoy during this edition is Ketama, The Manilas, the new project of Maika Makovski, Derby Motoreta’s Burrito Kachimba, and the duo Delaporte.

Sueños de Libertad is also organizing free concerts on the 14, 15, and 16th of May throughout Ibiza town. (More info)

9-International Music Summit – IMS (May, 22-24th)

Are you involved in the electronic music industry? The famous and inspiring IMS is an educational and motivational platform created to raise awareness on a great diversity of matters concerning the electronic music industry globally. The International Music Summit isn’t just any kind of conference, it’s been described as “the TED of music conferences”.

Three days featuring debates, panels, keynotes, and round tables of global leaders of the international music community. The industry comes together to talk about the future of electronic music and its impacts. It opens up important discussions: from mental health, drugs and alcohol, to gender discrimination and sexual harassment.

In addition, you can attend seminars and sessions of networking, wellness, mental health, mindfulness, yoga, breathing practices, healthy eating, and much more. But there cannot be a gathering of artists and musicians without music 😉 Don’t miss out on everyone’s favourite part of the event: the IMS closing party in Dalt Vila (May, 24th). (More info)

And last but not least, as we all know, May is also the month in which the season begins with…. Ibiza’s worldwide famous opening parties! 

10-Opening Parties (May)

During the month of May, the clubs in Ibiza open their doors and welcome the summer season. The following dates have been confirmed by the clubs, but keep your eyes opened as each party has its own individual opening party too: Amnesia’s Opening Party (May, 11th), O Beach Opening Party (May, 17th), Ibiza Rocks Opening Party (May, 17th), Ushuaïa & Hï Opening Parties (May, 18th). The opening parties are the official start to the summer season in Ibiza.

Although these are the 10 plans we’ve selected for this spring, there are many many things to do in Ibiza every day of the year. You can also participate in a beach cleanup on Sunday, go to one of the local markets, or enjoy some the fresh air. Go on a kayaking excursion, cycling, or running around Ibiza’s campo.
